Research Projects/student photos

COE undergraduate researchers are working in labs in UC Merced's Schools of Natural Sciences and Social Sciences, Humanities & Arts and in community research settings such as the Merced Alliance for Community Research & Development.

Egg drop challenge

On the first day of the undergraduate research training program students were grouped into pairs and given the challenge of protecting an egg from a 20' drop using only rudimentary materials. An exercise in teamwork, problem solving and group bonding!

Wet lab training

As a part of the basic research training component of the URTP, our students were given detailed instruction on basic 'wet' lab techniques.

Merced County public health site visits

URTP students were introduced to Merced County's communities through trips to the Golden Valley Health Center and the Human Services Agency. They also visited numerous sites that highlight the diversity of communities and landscapes on a whistle-stop tour of Merced County led by Congressman Dennis Cardoza's Merced County Field Representative, Linda Lopez.
